Changes regarding visits by school classes on their own
As the management of Christiansborg Palace transitions to the Royal Danish Collection at the turn of the year, school classes visiting Christiansborg Palace on their own will, going forward, be required to pay an entrance fee of 175 DKK per class.
This change will take effect on January 1, 2025.
Secondary education
Danish governance - the evolution of power structures
Join us at Christiansborg Palace and learn more about Danish forms of government. Students will examine key developments and events in Danish history from electoral kingship to absolute monarchy to democracy.
With a particular focus on the development of power structures and their significance for societal change, the changing nature of governance is discussed. The topic is related to the students' own time, thus highlighting the interplay between past and present.
The course consists of different sequences that support differentiated working methods and strengthen the students' skills in working actively with history, taking a position and arguing in an open and inclusive dialog. In addition, students have the opportunity to create their own presentation in the Queen's Great Hall based on Bjørn Nørgaard's tapestries.
Please note that educational programs are offered only in Danish.
Duration: approx. 1½ hours
Grade level: STX/HHX
Subjects: history A/B
Price: DKK 900 (up to 30 students)
History awareness and history use
Based on the tapestries, a treasure hunt of Danish history begins - what should be included and why? What choices and rejections are made and what consequences does this have for the historical presentation?
In this lesson, students actively work with both historical awareness and the use of history in Bjørn Nørgaard's tapestries. Through group work, students will experience history as a man-made construction and interpretation process that depends on how the present views the past. Through methodological considerations, students discuss how Danish history is portrayed.
The course covers the period from the Reformation to the present day and will therefore also give students the skills to explain key developments and events in Danish history in a chronological perspective.
