Persecuted for witchcraft
Join an engaging educational program about the witch trials in the special exhibition Power and Magic - Condemned as a Witch at the king's Palace .
Beneath Christiansborg Palace are the ruins of Copenhagen Palace with the infamous Blue Tower. This is where selected people were taken after being accused of witchcraft. In this interdisciplinary course, students follow the threads of fate of three women convicted of witchcraft. Based on the women's life stories, students get to explore and experiment with some of the forms of magic that were practiced by both men and women. Students are also confronted with the question of black and white magic and whether the two can be separated. The effects of sensory scenography play a crucial role in the course. Students gain an understanding of the feeling of mistrust and persecution that witches and wizards experienced after Christian IV's witchcraft ordinance of 1617.
The teaching process alternates between classroom teaching, working in pairs and group work.
